ACB Gujarat nabs CGST Inspector in Ahmedabad red-handed for taking Rs.10,000 bribe

Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corrution Bureau (ACB) has nabbed the Central Goods & Service Tax (CGST) Inspector at CGST Bhavan Ambawadi in a bribe case involving Rs. 10,000. Accused Ghanshyam Ramchandra Dholpuriya is 40 years old and works as a CGST Inspector as a class-B (grade-2) employee at CGST Bhavan in the Ambawadi area of Ahmedabad.
According to ACB, the complainant who filed a complaint against the inspector for bribery runs Housekeeping Agency in the name of his mother. CGST had issued a notice for unpaid service tax for the period of 2014 to 2017. CGST had frozen the bank account of the complainant’s mother in this connection. The complainant had gone to appeal, but the procedure could progress only with the availability of the enclosure number. The accused inspector demanded Rs. 10,000 bribe to provide the enclosure number to the complainant.
As the complainant was unwilling to pay a bribe, he contacted ACB, following which a trap was arranged, and the accused CSGT Inspector was nabbed after he received the bribe money near AMTS bus station in Chandkheda area on a public road. DeshGujarat
