October 13, 2024
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Government has announced plans to utilize plastic waste to enhance and fortify roads across the state as part of its ‘Vikas Saptah’ celebrations. The state has allocated ₹112.50 crore for the repair and strengthening of 13 roads spanning 105 kilometers. Incorporating plastic waste in road construction aims to benefit the environment while also increasing the durability and lifespan of these roads.
Additionally, ₹300.57 crore has been set aside to convert 20 heavily trafficked roads, totaling 93.33 kilometers, into Cement Concrete (CC) roads. These improvements will address waterlogging issues that occur during the monsoon season, resulting in stronger roads capable of withstanding extreme weather and heavy traffic.
This initiative to include plastic waste in road construction aligns with the government’s broader commitment to environmentally friendly practices, aiming to reduce plastic pollution while enhancing infrastructure. DeshGujarat
