Police conducts searches at Gujarat Maritime Board in GST scam case

Gandhinagar: The local police today continued the investigation at the office of the Gujarat Maritime Board in relation to the GST Input Tax Credit scam involving 200 benami companies. It is reported that the investigation is underway regarding the leaking of information about the ports.
The case, initially uncovered by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), is being investigated by the Gujarat Police and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The case allegedly involved the creation of over 220 benami firms with the help of forged documents to claim fake Input Tax Credit (ITC) through bogus bills, which reportedly caused a loss of crores to the government exchequer.
As of now eight accused who were arrested in the case, including Mahesh Langa, a journalist from The Hindu, are currently under judicial custody. DeshGujarat
