Free village wifi time increased from 30 minutes to 01 hour in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Under the village Wi-Fi project at the village level across Gujarat, citizens are provided 30 minutes of free internet through Wi-Fi from about 8000 village panchayats of the state, that time limit has now been increased to one hour, according to the list of the science and technology department.
Internet facility is currently being provided to all Gram Panchayats through OFC under the BharatNet Project in attempt to increase the digital literacy rate and reduce the digital divide at the rural level, by providing various citizen-oriented facilities in the nearby areas of the Gram Panchayat.
Under the village Wi-Fi project at rural level, the time limit for free Wi-Fi service has been increased from 30 minutes to one hour for six months on a trial basis. Under the village Wi-Fi project at village level, free internet facility will be provided to the citizens for the first one hour.
