GST evasion of Rs. 2.70 crore in jewelery and bullion sector uncovered in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: In order to prevent tax evasion in the B2C (Business to Consumers) sector in Gujarat mainly through billless sales, based on specific information received by the State Goods & Service Tax (GST) department, 15 jewelery and bullion dealers in the state were investigated at Surat, Rajkot and Ahmedabad on Date:- 29/10/2024. Out of which 3 traders were from Ahmedabad, 5 traders from Rajkot and 7 traders from Surat.
Unaccounted stock, unaccounted cash, hidden labor costs and unbilled sales were found during the said proceedings.
So far during the investigation, tax evasion of about Rs 2.70 crore has been found in all the cases. Further necessary action as per law has been carried out which includes verification of returns of previous years. DeshGujarat
