Gujarat’s GST Revenue Rises 29% to ₹49,858 Crore in First Half of FY 2026-27: Govt

Ahmedabad: Gujarat recorded a 35% year-on-year increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue in September 2026, with collections rising to ₹8,167 crore from ₹6,050 crore in the same month last year, despite GST rate cuts. The growth outpaced the national increase of 14.7% during the same period, the state government said on Wednesday.

State government spokesperson and Minister Jitu Vaghani said after a Cabinet meeting that the increase reflected Gujarat’s business-friendly environment and improved voluntary tax compliance.

Gujarat collected ₹49,858 crore in GST revenue between April and September 2026, the first six months of the financial year 2026–27, marking a 29% increase from ₹38,540 crore collected during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

The State Tax Department’s total tax revenue stood at ₹12,222 crore in September 2026. This included ₹2,930 crore from Value Added Tax (VAT), ₹1,102 crore from electricity duty and ₹24 crore from professional tax, in addition to GST collections.

The state government attributed the growth to efforts to strengthen the business environment and greater cooperation from taxpayers. DeshGujarat
