Shahjahanpur: A major accident occurred this morning in the Miranpur Katra area of Shahjahanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. A bus carrying 56 pilgrims from Ahmedabad, traveling from Haridwar to Ayodhya, collided with a roadways bus from behind near Khusro College on the Lucknow-Delhi Highway.
The accident took place around 4:30 AM when the driver of the private bus suddenly applied the brakes to avoid a collision with the roadways bus. As the bus was traveling at high speed, it lost control and still collided with the roadways bus from behind.
At the time of the accident, most of the pilgrims were asleep, causing them to fall onto one another and collide with the seats. Passengers screamed in panic following the impact. Around 50 passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to the Miranpur Katra Community Health Center in ambulances and other vehicles, where immediate treatment was provided. Among them, five people, including the seriously injured driver, Durgesh Singh Ranawat, were referred to Shahjahanpur Medical College.
Deputy District Magistrate Jeet Singh Rai, Police Area Officer Amit Chaurasia, and local Police Station In-charge Om Shankar Shukla arrived at the scene. Local MLA Veer Vikram Singh Prince visited the hospital to check on the injured and distribute fruits. He also instructed hospital management to ensure the best possible care and treatment for the victims. DeshGujarat
