US Pizza found serving unlabeled stale ice cream in Rajkot; 25 liters destroyed

Rajkot: Recent inspections by the food department of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) revealed that even prominent food joints in the city are serving stale ingredients. During a check at U.S. Pizza (operated by Om Food) located in Westgate Plus on 150 Feet Ring Road, officials found 25 liters of stale Dessert-Don brand ice cream. Additionally, labeling details in compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006 were missing from the product. The ice cream, deemed unusable, was destroyed on-site, and a notice was issued to the firm.

In another case, around six kilograms of stale, inedible burnt oil were found at “Bajrang Panipuri” in Chamunda Society on Kuvadava Road. The spoiled oil was destroyed, and a notice was issued to the establishment.

Further inspections by the municipality’s food branch at Aji GIDC led to the collection of six samples, including Ramdev One Ratna Mix Namkin, Chheda’s Mangalori Mix, Chheda’s Roasted Coriander Chevda, and Paper Boat Swing Zesty Pomegranate ready-to-serve drinks. These samples have been sent for testing, and further action will follow based on the results. Deshgujarat
