Ramol Police man suspended for extorting foreign returned senior citizens in Ahmedabad

Vadodara: An elderly couple from Vadodara, who had visited Vietnam, were returning to their city after hiring a car from Ahmedabad airport on November 5, when the police stopped them near Adani Circle. The police extorted 3 bottles of foreign liquor, 400 US dollars and 12 thousand rupees from them on the pretext of checking. Ramol Police Station Head Constable Khumansingh and Kamlesh are found to be involved in this act of extortion. A video in connection with this incident went viral in the media.
It is now learnt that the head constable Khumansingh is suspended. A native of Vadodara and a retired teacher, Deepak Shah visited Vietnam with his wife Nishaben and friends. After sitting in a taxi, while passing through the ring road, four persons checked their vehicle.
The old man Deepak Shah was threatened by checking staff of police. Shah showed his liquor permit. However, the Ramol police personnel seized Rs 12 thousand cash and 400 US dollars and 03 bottles of liquor by threatening to tconfiscate the passport of the elderly couple and by showing fear of the law. ACP Kunal Desai visited Vadodara and questioned the victim Deepak Shah. Ramol police have returned the rupees and liquor bottles to Shah. DeshGujarat
