AMC to develop Lotus Park, ‘Kausum: Garland of India,’ on SG Highway

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has planned the development of Lotus Park on a plot of approximately 25,000 square meters at S.G. Highway near Dev City in Gota Ward, North-West Zone. Around Rs. 20 crore has been allocated for this project in the current year’s budget.

Lotus Park, or Garland of India (Kausum in Sanskrit), will be a symbolic structure showcasing the flowers of all states of India in one place. The design of this project is inspired by the lotus flower, where each petal will represent the state flower of a particular state. This project aims to strengthen the idea of unity in diversity and will be highly beneficial for the people of Ahmedabad, allowing them to experience the flowers of all states of India in one location. Each petal carrying the state flowers of India will be technologically controlled via tablets.

The park will feature several key areas, including an entrance plaza, landscape plaza, public plaza, water pond with a fountain, a central multifunctional congregation area, a multilevel landscaped deck area, admin and security areas, information kiosks, a souvenir shop, flower shops, Ayurveda/wellness product shops, a toilet block, and a peripheral landscaped walkway.

The climate in Gujarat is capable of regulating humidity, temperature, and other necessary conditions for growing specific flowers from various regions. Meanwhile, flowers from different parts of the world will be exhibited in the floral museum. Visitors will be able to purchase flower products from the flower shop once the park is ready. This project will be developed based on the net-zero energy concept.

The total estimated cost of this project is ₹75 to 80 crore (+ GST), with ₹20 crore allocated in the current year’s budget. The project will include civil, electrical, structural, MEP, technology, landscape development, public amenities, parking, and other related facilities. DeshGujarat
