Dwarka: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested Dipesh Gohel, an Indian citizen from Okha, a coastal town in the Devbhoomi Dwarka district, for spying on Indian security forces and providing sensitive information to Pakistani agent. Gohel is accused of sharing classified information about the Indian Coast Guard and maritime borders with operatives from Pakistan.
Addressing the media about the case, Gujarat ATS SP K. Siddharth said, “Gujarat ATS has registered an espionage case. An accused named Dipesh Gohel has been arrested. He worked near the Okha Jetty for the last three years, welding ships in Okha. Around seven months ago, he received a friend request on Facebook from a female account named Sahima. They exchanged numbers, and he came to know that Sahima works in the Pakistan Navy. She asked for the names, details, and movements of the Coast Guard ships stationed at Okha Jetty. They made a deal for ₹200 per day. In the last seven months, bank transactions worth ₹42,000 took place.”
“After this, we called him in for interrogation, and a technical analysis of his phone was done, which revealed that the IP address used during their online communications was based in Pakistan. This confirmed that the person on the other side was indeed a Pakistani Navy member. The accused knew that providing such information was prohibited. A case has been registered under Sections 61 and 148 of the BNS for criminal conspiracy against the state. He has been arrested,” SP Siddharth further revealed.
The ATS had been monitoring Gohel’s movements for several days before making the arrest. During questioning, it was confirmed that Gohel had provided significant details about the Coast Guard’s operations and maritime security to Pakistan. Officials are now interrogating his colleagues to ascertain whether they were aware of or involved in his activities.
This arrest comes after a similar incident in Porbandar last month, where Pankaj Kotia was apprehended for allegedly leaking confidential Coast Guard information to Pakistani agents. Kotia, who had been in contact with operatives linked to the Pakistani Army or intelligence agency ISI, used social media platforms to share sensitive details about Coast Guard operations. Following Kotia’s arrest, the ATS heightened its surveillance along Gujarat’s coastal regions.
The ATS continues its investigation to uncover the full extent of this espionage network and identify other individuals involved. Coastal towns like Okha and Porbandar, due to their strategic proximity to Pakistan, remain focal points for intelligence agencies. DeshGujarat
