Navsari: A video showing a teacher from Navsari’s Seventh-Day School and his wife allegedly promoting religious conversion and making remarks that hurt Hindu sentiments went viral, prompting the Jalalpore police on Friday to file a formal complaint against the couple and initiate an investigation.
The controversy began when the video surfaced, showing Kamal Naskar, a teacher at the Seventh-Day English Medium School, and his wife, Sarita, leading a Christian prayer with children and others. In the video, Sarita is heard saying, “Jesus is the true God,” and administering an oath renouncing faith in Hindu deities in favor of Jesus. Following the video’s circulation, members of the AntarRashtriya Hindu Parishad and Rashtriya Bajrang Dal submitted a written application to the Navsari District Police Chief.
The police subsequently summoned the couple to the station for questioning. However, at the same time, members of Hindu organizations gathered at the police station, chanting “Jai Shri Ram” slogans, protesting against the couple, and demanding that a case be registered against them.
Following the protests, the police filed a case against Kamalbhai and Saritabhen Naskar and detained them for further proceedings. It was reported that around 40 applications were submitted by members of Hindu organizations at the Jalalpore police station. Preliminary investigations revealed that the video was recorded in Babal village of Bardoli taluka. DeshGujarat
