Gandhinagar: Following Australia’s lead, two universities from the United Kingdom, namely Queen’s University Belfast and Coventry University, have submitted applications to establish their international campuses at GIFT City in Gujarat, news reports stated.

According to the news report, K. Rajaraman, Chairperson of the International Financial Services Authority (IFSCA), stated that they have recently approved Queen’s University Belfast’s proposal to set up a campus at GIFT City. The university plans to start the campus with 800 students.

The Northern Ireland-based university, nearly 200 years old, is expected to offer postgraduate programs and plans to establish a research arm, with the possibility of offering undergraduate courses in the future.

The second UK university proposing to set up a campus in GIFT City is Coventry University, established in 1843, which already has campuses in Egypt, Poland, Morocco, and Kazakhstan.
