2 Bangladeshis held in Surat for living with fake Hindu identities

Surat: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Surat Police has arrested two Bangladeshi youths living in the city under fake Hindu identities.

One of the accused, identified as Musibul Makbul Shaikh, alias Raj, was found in possession of a fake Aadhaar card. Shaikh had fabricated the Aadhaar card under the name Pradip Sujay Kshetrapal (West Bengal) to live in a Hindu-dominated area with a Hindu woman in a live-in relationship. The accused had been living in Surat for approximately 14 years, working various jobs, including in spas.

Residing in the Jahangirabad area, Shaikh had two Aadhaar cards—one in his real name, Musibul Makbul Shaikh, with an address in Magdalla, and another under the fake Hindu name Pradip Kshetrapal from West Bengal. The birthdates on both Aadhaar cards were different. In his car’s RC book, his name appeared as Musibul Shaikh from Bamroli. Police seized items worth ₹15,000, including the Aadhaar cards, RC book, PAN card, and mobile phone, for further investigation. Shaikh reportedly created the fake Aadhaar card using a mobile app.

The accused met the Hindu woman, originally from Nepal but settled in Mumbai with her family, through Facebook. The two have been in a relationship for the past two years. A few months ago, Musibul brought the woman to Surat, and they started living together in a rented house in Jahangirabad.

In another case, the SOG arrested 27-year-old Yusuf Sardar, a native of Vishnupur village in the Narail district of Bangladesh. The police nabbed him during a raid in a slum near Paliya Ground in the Lal Gate area. The accused confessed to the police that he paid an agent in Bangladesh 1,000 Taka and crossed the Satkhira border into West Bengal’s Bangaon. From Howrah railway station, he traveled to Surat, where he was living in a slum and worked as a laborer.

The police recovered a fake voter ID, driving license, Aadhaar card, and a Bangladeshi passport from him. His fake driving license and voter ID listed his name as Rajesh Sardar, which he used to settle in Surat under a false identity. DeshGujarat
