Ahmedabad: In yet another controversy related to paying guest (PG) accommodation in the city, residents of Godrej Green Glades Society have alleged that the boys living in the PG accommodation used abusive language toward other flat owners. The residents have approached the local police regarding the matter. They filed an application with the Chandkheda Police Station after some boys living in the rented PG, along with 6-7 outsiders, allegedly got into a physical altercation with the society secretary and security personnel on Thursday night.
Late at night, PG youths allegedly created a ruckus in the Green Glades Society in Chandkheda, and the disturbance continued into the morning. A video of the incident has gone viral, showing 8 to 10 youths entering the gate of the society late at night and starting a fight. Both a PG youth and a local resident were injured in the altercation. The youth, who sustained a hand injury, has also approached the police, complaining that the local residents of the society have harassed them repeatedly.
The locals have complained that only two people are allowed to stay in a PG. However, despite the regulations, brokers offer flats to 10 people to stay as PGs. The youths living in the flat party late into the night, and sometimes their friends also come over, causing trouble for the surrounding residents. Additionally, one resident suspected that the youths living as PGs were using false identity cards.
Talking to the media, a woman resident of the society said, “These people come anytime at night, hold loud parties, drink, and we have complained earlier as well. Even after three warnings, they didn’t change their behavior. So we called the owner, who has asked them to vacate.” Another woman resident added, “The owner claimed that they rented the flat to a family and did not know how the boys were living there. Every day, several girls come here. We have major issues with the noise, but nothing else.”
“We are so frustrated; we spent the entire night at the police station. We went to the house and found a girl there. When we asked why she was staying there, she said, ‘I didn’t get a hotel in the city, so I am staying the night at my good friend’s place and will leave in the morning,'” another woman said.
It is learned that the scuffle began when the building’s security personnel asked a man for the rent agreement. The man became agitated and beat him up. Later, the PG student also got into a physical altercation with the society secretary. DeshGujarat
