Ahmedabad: British pop band Coldplay will perform two shows at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the city on January 25 and 26. With the capacity of the world’s largest cricket stadium in Motera being more than 1 lakh, over 2 lakh people are expected to attend the ‘Music of the Spheres’ concert over these two days. Considering this, the National Security Guard (NSG), bomb disposal units, and special force units will be deployed as part of the security apparatus for the event.
Joint Commissioner of Police Neeraj Badgujar informed the media that a total of 3,825 police personnel will be deployed in and around the stadium during the two days of the concert.
The senior police official stated that the deployment includes 14 DCPs (deputy commissioners of police), 25 ACPs (assistant commissioners of police), 63 police inspectors, 142 sub-inspectors, and more than 3,500 constables. Additionally, Special Operation Group and Ahmedabad City Crime Branch teams will monitor strategic points, including the stadium itself.
An NSG team, along with three Quick Response Teams, one State Disaster Response Force team, and 10 Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad teams, will be stationed at key locations, including the hotel where the crew will stay. Furthermore, medical and paramedical teams will remain on standby.
It is also noteworthy that as part of the Nirbhaya Project, key locations will be equipped with advanced security measures, including 150 door frame metal detectors, 250 handheld metal detectors, two baggage scanners, and 120 CCTV cameras.
According to the police, the concert is scheduled to run from 5:30 pm to 10 pm, with stadium gates opening for spectators at 2 pm.
On the other hand, to address any unforeseen medical emergencies, 11 medical kiosks will be available on the stadium premises, along with 7 ambulances stationed for immediate medical attention. Additionally, two clinics will be set up to handle any urgent medical situations.
Children below 5 years of age will not be allowed at the event, while earplugs will be provided to attendees above 5 years. Six information kiosks will be set up at the Motera Stadium premises to assist attendees with the required information. DeshGujarat
