Dholera Airport to see international air cargo operations later this year; DIACL initiates preparations

Japan K Pathak, Gandhinagar: Upcoming Dholera airport may start operations later this year exclusively by handling international air cargo operations through freighter flights/passenger flights.
Dholera International Airport Company Limited(DIACL) intends to commence international air cargo oeprations in initial phase from June/July 2025. Upcoming Dholera airport is located at around two hours distance from the city of Ahmedabad. The works for construction of a greenfield expressway to Dholera airport and Dholera are progressing in advanced stage.
DIACL has already invited tenders from the contractors for operation and management of international cargo terminal & ground handling services at Dholera Airport for a period of 7 years. Bids shall open in the month of March this year. DIACL has stated that it intends to commence international air cargo oeprations in initial phase from June/July 2025.
DIACL is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) established by the Government of Gujarat (GoG), with equity participation from Airports Authority of India (AAI) – 51%, Government of Gujarat – 33%, and National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) – 16%, for the development of Dholera International Airport as a greenfield airport to meet the logistics requirements of the Dholera Special Investment Region.
A total area of Air cargo Terminal according to DIACL is 10,700 sqm approx. (International Cargo) Built up area is 2,450 sqm (only Ground Floor), paved area is 8,800 sqm and 4260 Sqm airside ramp area will be provided for carrying out cargo handling.
A category 4E – 06L – 24R runway shall be 3200 Mtr. long with provision of two parking stands and equal number of parking bays. DeshGujarat
