Dholera to Get 220-Crore-Litre Raw Water Reservoir at ₹438.74 Crore
November 03, 2026
Dholera: The Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) will get a 2,200-million-litre (220-crore-litre) raw water storage reservoir and a pumping station at an estimated cost of ₹438.74 crore. The project will be executed on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis and includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the reservoir and associated infrastructure.
The project aims to strengthen water infrastructure and ensure adequate water availability to support the region’s future industrial and technological development. Estimated at ₹438.74 crore (₹438,74,58,421), the project will include the construction of the reservoir, a raw water pumping station, a rising main and pipeline network, an advanced automation and control system, site development, and testing and commissioning works. The contractor will be required to complete the construction within 18 months.
According to the contract cost breakdown, reservoir construction accounts for the largest share of the project cost, with a weightage of 70.95%. Site development accounts for 11.20%, the pumping station for 7.35%, and the rising main, pipeline network and automation systems for 4.50%. The remaining cost covers testing, commissioning and necessary documentation.
Water infrastructure to support Dholera’s industrial expansion
The reservoir is expected to play a crucial role in meeting Dholera’s growing water requirements as semiconductor manufacturing facilities, artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and large-scale data centres take shape in the region.
These technology-intensive industries, particularly data centres, require substantial and uninterrupted water supplies for cooling operations. The reservoir’s 220-crore-litre storage capacity is expected to strengthen water security and provide a buffer against potential supply shortages and water stress as industrial activities expand.
The contractor will also be responsible for operating and maintaining the reservoir for five years. Any defects identified during this period will be subject to deductions from payments in accordance with the contractual provisions. DeshGujarat
