Former Dy Mayor of Vadodara gets 6 months in jail

Vadodara: A local court today sentenced former Deputy Mayor of Vadodara Municipal Corporation, Yogesh Mukti, to six months of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 in a 2014 case related to the assault on a ward officer.
The case dates back to 2014 when Jagmal Nandania, then a ward officer of Ward No. 8, seized lorries encroaching on roads near Karelibagh Amitnagar Circle and Wood Circle. At the time, then-elected councilor Yogesh Patel (Mukti) obstructed the anti-encroachment operation and allegedly slapped the ward officer. Later, the Deputy Commissioner filed a complaint against Yogesh for freeing the seized lorries, harassing a government employee, and obstructing a public servant from performing his duties.
Today, the court found the former deputy mayor guilty and sentenced him to six months in prison along with a fine of Rs 1,000. DeshGujarat
