Cyber Centre of Excellence, Anti-Narcotics Task Force to be set up in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: The State Finance Minister today announced that a state-level Cyber Centre of Excellence will be established in Gujarat, along with Cyber Forensic Labs in all districts. This announcement was made by Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai during his budget speech for the 2025-26 state budget. He also declared that an Anti-Narcotics Task Force will be formed in Gujarat to combat the drug menace.
During his budget speech, the Finance Minister said, “The safety and security of citizens is a matter of highest priority for the State Government. With the focus on cyber security and law enforcement a Cyber Centre of Excellence will be set up at the State level and Cyber Forensic Labs will also be set up in all districts. An operational unit of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force will be set up to take stringent action against illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. For the establishment of the above, I propose a total provision of ₹ 352 crore.”
As per the budget details, a provision of ₹23 crore has been allocated for the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and ₹30 crore for establishing Cyber Forensic Units in the remaining 24 districts of the state. Additionally, a provision of ₹299 crore has been allocated for 1,186 posts under the Cyber Centre of Excellence for Cyber Crime, Cyber Security, and Cyber Intelligence at the state level, along with IT infrastructure.
