Ahmedabad Airport issues advisory for passengers carrying satellite phone

Ahmedabad: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in the city has issued an advisory for passengers planning to carry a satellite phone during their travel. As per the advisory, satellite phones are not allowed in check-in or hand baggage without prior approval.
The advisory states the regulations for carrying satellite phones, which specify that, as per the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, satellite phones require prior authorization. BSNL-provided INMARSAT phones are allowed with the permission of BSNL.
Other satellite phones, if restricted, may be permitted with approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) or the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on a case-by-case basis. DeshGujarat
