ACB Gujarat books maintenance surveyor, accomplice in bribe case
February 27, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today booked Pankajbhai M. Patel, a maintenance surveyor at the City Survey Superintendent’s Office in Bavla, and his accomplice Mansukhbhai Somabhai Thakor for allegedly demanding a ₹5,000 bribe.
According to the ACB, the complainant’s client had a Non-Agricultural (NA) land record primarily noted at the City Survey Office, Bavla. Following this, Mansukhbhai Thakor sought a bribe of ₹5,000 for certifying the record, asking for the payment to be made the same day. The complainant, unwilling to pay the bribe, approached the ACB. Based on the complaint, a trap was set. During the operation, Thakor accepted the bribe and called accused Pankajbhai Patel on speakerphone in the presence of witnesses to discuss the receipt of the money.
Pankajbhai M. Patel responded in a manner that indicated support for the transaction. While Thakor was caught on the spot, Patel was not present at the office. Both accused have been booked for collusion in committing the crime. DeshGujarat
