AMC carries out demolition drive against encroachment in Gulbai Tekra
February 28, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today launched a demolition drive against illegal encroachments in the Gulbai Tekra area of the city, clearing over 50 illegally built huts and other encroachments.
The Gujarat High Court has repeatedly pulled up the city civic body over illegal encroachments and traffic congestion, prompting authorities to take action. This morning, the Estate Department of AMC initiated efforts to remove encroachments in affected areas across the city. The road from Gulbai Tekra to Panjarapol in the Navrangpura area had been occupied by encroachments for years. Under tight police security, teams from the AMC started clearing the area, removing unauthorized structures, makeshift huts, and other encroachments from the road.
More than two JCBs and about 10 small and large vehicles have been deployed for the clearance drive. The 24-meter-wide road had been partially blocked due to encroachments, making it difficult for vehicles to pass through. Tarpaulin-covered huts and other unauthorized structures had further contributed to the congestion. The long-pending clearance of this road is now underway to restore legal access. DeshGujarat
