Gujarat CM inaugurates chlorotoluene plant of GACL at Dahej

Dahej: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel virtually inaugurated the country’s largest chlorotoluene plant set up by Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited in Dahej on the foundation day of GACL in Dahej.
Through this venture of the Gujarat government, value-added chlorine-based products like benzyl chloride, benzyl alcohol and benzaldehyde will be manufactured in this new plant using chlorine.
This plant has been built at a cost of Rs. 350 crore. With an annual capacity of 30 thousand tonnes, it will also create about 1 thousand direct and indirect jobs.
This new chlorotoluene plant of GACL will earn about Rs. 130 crore in foreign exchange through the export of this chemical to Europe, America and South Asia.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel congratulated the GACL family for the new plant being commissioned on the occasion of GACL’s foundation day and for the progressive success of GACL for 50 years.
A state government venture, GACL has been in operation since 1973 and manufactures over 35 products including caustic soda in a total of three manufacturing units, two in Dahej and one in Vadodara.
GACL has continuously expanded its manufacturing capacity and new products in the last five decades. GACL has an annual production capacity of over eight lakh metric tonnes of caustic soda and boasts of being the only manufacturing unit in India for sodium chlorate and hydrazine hydrate. DeshGujarat
