IMD issues orange alert for heatwave in parts of Gujarat till April 8

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts for heatwave conditions in parts of Gujarat and has forecast a gradual temperature rise of 2-3°C over the next week.
According to the IMD, heatwave conditions will persist in isolated pockets of Porbandar, Rajkot, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Kutch from April 2 to April 8. North Gujarat districts, including Banaskantha, Patan, and Mehsana, are also expected to experience heatwave conditions from April 6 onward.
Additionally, coastal areas of Gujarat will face hot and humid conditions between April 3 and April 8. While most regions will remain dry, light thunderstorms with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) and scattered rainfall are expected on April 2 in parts of North and South Gujarat, including Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, and Valsad.
