Ahmedabad: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi will launch a pilot initiative to strengthen the party’s district-level units during his two-day visit to Gujarat starting Tuesday.
On April 12, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) appointed 42 AICC and 183 Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) observers to oversee the appointment of committee presidents across 33 districts and eight major cities in the state. Gandhi will first hold an orientation meeting with these observers in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, before they begin the process of selecting district unit presidents for 41 regions, Gujarat Congress chief Shaktisinh Gohil said.
On Wednesday, Gandhi will address party workers in Modasa town, Arvalli district, and officially inaugurate the pilot project.
Gandhi’s visit comes shortly after the AICC and CWC sessions held in Gujarat on April 8 and 9, and follows his March visit focused on reviving the party in the state, where Congress has been out of power for 30 years. DeshGujarat
