Bilimora Station getting ready to host India’s first bullet train; Progress Update

Navsari: The first bullet train will run between Surat and Bilimora in the adjoining Navsari district. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), responsible for executing the bullet train project, is building the Bilimora Bullet Train Station, and the work is progressing rapidly.

NHSRCL has released a 90-second video on social media showcasing the progress of work at the station. According to the update, work on rail and platform-level slab casting has been completed, and the structural steel erection has also been finished. Currently, roof sheeting and architectural mock-up work are underway. Officials from NHSRCL mentioned that the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is progressing rapidly.

Bilimora, located in Navsari district, is famous for its mango orchards, and the design of the station’s façade is being developed as an abstract representation of these orchards. After the completion of the station building’s construction, the installation of the roof and escalators has now begun. A 360-degree view of the bullet train station has recently been shared on social media.

The Bilimora station on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor is located in Kesli village, Navsari district. The total area of the station is 38,394 sqm. To ensure passenger convenience, the station has been designed with amenities such as lifts, escalators, a business class lounge, child care facilities, and a convenience store. The station’s height is 20.5 meters from the ground floor, with the concourse located on the ground floor and the platform on the first floor. Rail and platform-level slab casting work has been completed, and structural steel erection work is finished. Roof sheeting and architectural mock-up work are currently ongoing.

It is important to note that trial runs on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor are expected to begin by August 2026. Track work between Surat and Bilimora is currently being completed for this purpose. The entire project is expected to become operational by 2028. DeshGujarat
