Ahmedabad: In a move aimed at fostering world-class educational institutions, GIFT City has proposed the construction of an iconic tall building to house campuses of international universities and institutions. This development will enhance the presence of globally recognized institutions within the city.
Slated to be developed at a cost of ₹450 crore, the advanced facility will be known as the International Branch Campus (IBC) and will be located at the entrance of the GIFT Special Economic Zone (Block 12), on plot 12C.
The proposed IBC building is expected to accommodate multiple campuses from foreign universities and will feature facilities such as modular classrooms, lecture theatres, seminar rooms, specialized laboratories, and modern libraries. Administrative spaces will include reception areas, offices, student services, and pantry facilities. Common areas will house an auditorium, gym, canteen, dining areas, breakout spaces, and a bookstore.
To ensure the creation of state-of-the-art educational infrastructure, GIFT City Limited (GIFTCL) has announced a design competition to select an architectural firm for the International Branch Campus Building.
According to the details released in the International Architecture Design Competition Dossier for Proposed International Branch Campus Building in GIFT City, the building’s footprint will span 3,601 sq m, with a basement area of up to 5,178 sq m. The total built-up area permitted for the project is 7.2 lakh sq ft, with an estimated total construction area of about 10.8 lakh sq ft. The building will rise to a height of 120 metres, carefully designed to comply with the airport’s height restrictions of 183.88 metres above mean sea level. DeshGujarat
