IMD warns of dust-raising winds in parts of Gujarat on April 19–20

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Gujarat, Diu, Daman, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli for the next seven days. As per the bulletin, heat wave conditions are likely to persist in isolated pockets of Rajkot and Kutch districts on April 18, followed by dust-raising winds on April 19–20 in several districts.
Dry weather is predicted across the region throughout the week, while dust-raising winds with speeds of 20–30 kmph are expected over Saurashtra-Kutch and North Gujarat on April 19 and 20. Discomfort due to hot and humid air is also forecast for coastal regions between April 22 and 24. In Ahmedabad, the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 43°C, with clear skies prevailing.
It is noteworthy that a heat wave prevailed in parts of Kutch in the last 24 hours, and Kandla Airport emerged as the hottest location in Gujarat, recording a scorching maximum temperature of 44.6°C on Thursday. Several other cities also witnessed intense heat, with Surendranagar at 43.3°C, Rajkot at 42.9°C, and Amreli at 42.5°C.
