Days after soaring above 40°C, maximum temperatures ease slightly in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Days after remaining above 40 degrees Celsius, the maximum temperature has decreased slightly in Ahmedabad and across other parts of Gujarat, bringing much-awaited relief from the sweltering heat. The maximum temperature stood at 39.7°C on Sunday in Ahmedabad, after consistently staying above 40°C over the past week.
Rajkot recorded the highest maximum temperature at 41.7°C, which was 2.0°C above normal. Other hot spots included Amreli (40.9°C), Surendranagar (40.8°C), as well as Bhuj and Gandhinagar, both registering maximum temperatures of 40.2°C. These were the only four places in Gujarat where daytime temperatures crossed the 40°C mark.
The maximum temperature in Baroda stood at 38.5°C, while Surat, being a coastal city, recorded a comparatively milder 34.6°C. Coastal stations like Dwarka (31.1°C) and Veraval (32.0°C) remained relatively cooler, accompanied by higher humidity levels.
As per IMD’s latest bulletin, the week ahead is likely to be less scorching, with no heatwave alert issued so far. However, coastal areas might experience hot and humid weather on April 22, 23, and 24. DeshGujarat
