ACB Gujarat nabs Deputy Chitnish in bribe case
April 23, 2025
Nadiad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed Mitulkumar Ambalal Kachhiya, Deputy Chitnis (Class-3) of the Irrigation Department at the District Panchayat Office in Nadiad, Kheda, for accepting a bribe of ₹4,050.
According to the ACB, the complainant had completed a drainage line project at the Alindra Gram Panchayat office under the 15th Finance Commission grant, with the final bill amounting to ₹2.7 lakh. To process the bill, a counter-signature from the Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Division, Kheda District Panchayat, was required. Although the accused had arranged the necessary signature, he demanded a 1.5% commission — ₹4,050 — as a bribe.
Unwilling to pay, the complainant approached the ACB. A trap was laid at the Irrigation Department of the District Panchayat Office, and the accused was caught red-handed accepting the full amount. The official has been booked for misuse of position and engaging in corrupt practices. DeshGujarat
