Locals led by opposition politicians oppose proposed GMDC lignite project
April 23, 2025
Bharuch: Another development project, and another protest in the tribal belt of Gujarat led by the usual suspects.
A group of locals led by politicians — AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava, former MLA Mahesh Vasava, Dilip Vasava, and Anil Bhagat among others — protested the proposed Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) lignite project in Valia taluka of Bharuch district during the meeting held for an environmental hearing at Sodgam. The district collector Gaurang Makwana, Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) regional officer V.D. Rakholiya, among others, were present at this hearing programme.
The locals, led by opposition politicians, expressed various doubts against the project and claimed the project would violate constitutional provisions (as they often claim on various subjects). DeshGujarat
