Gujarat swelters under intense heat; Rajkot records highest maximum temperature

Gandhinagar: The state continues to face intense summer heat, with Rajkot registering the highest maximum temperature of 42.2°C on April 24, two degrees above normal. Bhuj followed closely at 42.7°C, four degrees above the seasonal average, while Ahmedabad sizzled at 42.1°C. Other cities such as Gandhinagar (41.6°C), Amreli (41.9°C), Deesa (40.8°C), and Baroda (40.4°C) also recorded temperatures significantly above normal levels.
Coastal areas remained relatively cooler, with Veraval recording the lowest maximum temperature at 31.4°C, one degree below normal. Surat witnessed 35.6°C, while Porbandar recorded 35.0°C. According to the daily weather report of IMD, the minimum temperature ranged between 27.0°C and 20.2°C in the state, with Bhavnagar recording the highest and Porbandar the lowest.
On the other hand, the IMD forecast states that there is likely to be no change in maximum temperature during the next three days. Thereafter, a rise of 2–3°C is very likely over the region.
The IMD bulletin further mentions that maximum temperatures are very likely to be in the range of 40–44°C over parts of the Gujarat region and Saurashtra-Kutch during April 25 to April 30, 2025. DeshGujarat
