Amreli: In a successful trap operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat apprehended a Revenue Talati (Mantri) Class-3, identified as Pravinbhai Keshubhai Mayda, working at the Mamlatdar office in Jafrabad taluka of Amreli district. The arrest took place today near Bhada Char Rasta in Timbi village of Jafrabad taluka.
The action followed a complaint lodged by a vigilant citizen with the ACB’s toll-free number 1064. According to the complainant, the accused, Pravinbhai Mayda, had allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹10,000 for the work of consolidating the complainant’s land and separating the land accounts.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB, leading to the planning of a trap operation. During the operation today, the accused was caught red-handed while engaging in a deliberate conversation with the complainant and accepting the bribe amount of ₹10,000. The entire bribe money was successfully recovered from the accused.
The trap operation was conducted by Shri R. D. Sagar, I/c Police Inspector of Amreli ACB Police Station. The operation was supervised by Shri S. N. Barot, I/c Assistant Director of ACB Bhavnagar Unit.
This successful operation underscores the effectiveness of the ACB’s toll-free number in enabling citizens to report corruption and the swift action taken by the bureau in bringing officials to justice.
