Srinagar: They speak sweet with tourists like us, but we can’t trust them, that’s the lesson I have learnt after my six days tour. All was looking fine, but on 6th day, I realized I can’t revisit this place. It is called Swarg on the earth, but it’s Nark as well in a way. Ahmedabad-based Rushi Bhatt said this. Bhatt, his wife and his son survived Pahalgam terror attack.

Bhatt was on a visit to Baisaran valley when terror attack took place. He was on zipline when he heard gunshots and people running here and there on the ground below and killings by terrorists. The zipline operator said Allah hu Akbar several times when terror attack started. Bhatt said this was unusual, because the local Kashmiri person operating zipline didn’t say Allah hu Akbar when 9 persons boarded zipline before his turn. The zipline operator chanted Allah hu Akbar thrice only as the terror attack started and gun shots were heard for the first time. Bhatt has captured this in video. After surviving terror attack, Bhatt passed on the video to an Army person he knows. The Army person asked Bhatt not to pass on the video anywhere for smooth probe.

After some three four days of the incident, Bhatt’s video went viral today as he put it online. Bhatt after leaving zipline, was told by his wife that two persons were killed close to her and it was a terror attack. Bhatt, his wife and son ran away from the place to hide next to a slope. Others were also hiding there. The place behind the slope was such that the terrorists on the ground would not be able to spot anyone there.

Bhatt said after some 15–20 minutes they thought that it’s safer now, and they ran away towards the gate. Others too started running, and then gunshots resumed and several of those running away towards the gate were shot at back. Bhatt said he witnessed some 16–17 killings. Bhatt said, the Army arrived within some 22 minutes and gave them cover for safe journey down the hill.

Bhatt said, the terrorists had AK-47 type large guns and their faces were covered. There were two terrorists on the ground, and others were firing from the forest. There could be five to six terrorists total involved in this terror act, he added.

Bhatt said, the terrorists were asking religion and then killing males, while allowing women and children to get away. Bhatt said, he was advised not to take shelter in any Kashmiri’s house and straight away reach the parking area. When asked whether the locals helped him, Bhatt clearly replied that local had left the place first.
