Gujarat witnesses scorching heat; Rajkot records season’s hottest day at 46.2°C

Rajkot: The city was scorching under extreme heat on Monday, recording the highest temperature of the season at a blistering 46.2°C, which was 5 degrees Celsius above normal for this time of year. This marked the hottest temperature among all places in Gujarat and pointed out the severity of the heat sweeping across the Saurashtra region.
Other cities that also felt the scorching summer heat and high daytime temperatures included Surendranagar at 44.8°C, Amreli at 44.1°C, Ahmedabad at 44.0°C, and Gandhinagar at 43.2°C. The mercury touched 40.6°C in Vadodara, while Bhavnagar and Bhuj recorded 42.2°C each. Among these hot towns was also Deesa in north Gujarat, with a maximum temperature of 41.6°C.
On the contrary, Coastal cities and towns, especially Surat, saw a fall of 3 degrees from normal, recording a maximum temperature of 33.6°C. Similarly, Dwarka and Veraval witnessed daytime temperatures around 32°C.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for parts of Saurashtra and Kutch for today, advising residents to take precautions, avoid exposure during peak afternoon hours, and stay hydrated. DeshGujarat
