IMD issues Orange and Yellow alerts for parts of Gujarat for next 48 hours

Ahmedabad: Gujaratis continue to reel under scorching summer heat as the mercury soars past 40°C in several cities. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for the next two days, warning that some places may experience more intense weather.

According to the latest IMD bulletin, an orange alert has been issued for Rajkot during the next 48 hours. It is noteworthy that the city had recorded maximum temperatures above 46°C on Monday. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for Botad for the next 24 hours, valid until 8:30 AM on Wednesday. Surendranagar, Morbi, and Kutch are also likely to witness heatwave conditions over the next 48 hours, until 8:30 AM on Thursday.

The IMD forecast states that no major change in maximum temperatures is expected over the next four days. However, a drop of 2–4°C is likely thereafter, which may bring some relief.

Furthermore, maximum temperatures are expected to remain in the 40–44°C range between April 29 and May 1 across North, Central, and South Gujarat. But in Saurashtra-Kutch, temperatures may reach 42–47°C on today and remain in the 40–45°C range from April 30 to May 1.

Additionally, discomfort due to hot and humid air is likely to prevail in the coastal areas of South Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch from April 29 to May 1. DeshGujarat
