Ahmedabad: In a joint operation, Customs and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized 37 kg of hydroponic weed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Tuesday. The weed (cannabis), worth around ₹37 crore, was seized from four passengers arriving from Bangkok.
Acting on a tip-off, the authorities intercepted four Indian passengers — two men and two women. Upon inspecting their six trolley bags, multiple packets of a green substance were found hidden in branded food packets. Chemical analysis confirmed that the seized item was hydroponic weed.
The contraband was confiscated, and all four individuals, reportedly from Amritsar, were arrested by the DRI after failing to justify their presence in Ahmedabad. Officials suspect they were in the city to deliver the narcotics, and further investigation is ongoing. DeshGujarat
