India issues 4 notifications for naval firing off Gujarat coast; 85 nautical miles from Pakistan’s drills

Porbandar: The Indian Navy is conducting major military exercises in the Arabian Sea within its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), keeping warships on high alert for any unusual activity, defence sources said. Four green notifications have been issued for live-firing drills near the Gujarat coast — just 85 nautical miles from the area where Pakistan is currently carrying out its own naval exercises.

The exercises include multiple anti-ship and anti-aircraft firings. Indian Coast Guard vessels have also been deployed near the International Maritime Boundary to enhance surveillance. It is learnt that the Navy is stepping up its operational footprint across the region. This ramp-up in activity comes in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 people, most of them Hindu tourists.

Green notifications serve as public warnings for scheduled live-fire exercises, alerting civilian and commercial vessels to avoid the designated danger zones during the drills.

As per reports, although Pakistan has issued four missile firing alerts in the past week, no actual launches have taken place so far. The Indian Navy is keeping a close watch on the evolving situation.

The Navy has recently conducted several anti-ship missile launches from its warships, including the firing of BrahMos cruise missiles. These drills are meant to validate the Navy’s combat readiness and precision strike capabilities in a maritime warfare environment. DeshGujarat
