May 06, 2025
Surat: The Government of Gujarat has declared the year 2025 as Urban Development Year, under which a series of city-centric events are being organized across the state. As part of this initiative, a special campaign titled “Healthy Gujarat, Obesity-Free Gujarat” will be held across all 17 municipal corporations and 36 municipalities on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
In line with this, the Surat Municipal Corporation will organize a 10-kilometre Night Cyclothon-25 on May 11, starting at 6:30 PM from the Police Parade Ground, passing through Rahul Raj Mall, and returning to the starting point. Around 7,000 participants are expected to take part in the event.
Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal has chaired meetings with the Cycling Association, various educational and voluntary institutions, the Sports Authority of Gujarat, and the Gujarat State Yoga Board to ensure broad community participation. Citizens from all walks of life—including political, social, and religious leaders; students from schools and colleges; cycling groups; and residents from various societies and organizations—are expected to participate.
The primary objective of the Cyclothon is to encourage healthy lifestyles among citizens and promote a strong and empowered society.
