Gandhinagar: As part of the nationwide Civil Defence Mock Drill scheduled for May 7, 2025, the Gujarat government has announced staggered blackout timings across 18 districts. These blackouts, each lasting for 30 minutes, aim to simulate emergency preparedness during potential air strike scenarios.
According to official statement, the eastern region—including Dang, Bharuch, Navsari, Narmada, Surat, Vadodara, and Tapi—will observe the blackout from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
The western region—comprising Jamnagar, Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, and Morbi—will undergo the blackout from 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
Lastly, in the central region, districts such as Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad will experience the blackout from 8:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
Citizens have been advised to turn off or cover all lights in homes, offices, and vehicles during their district’s designated blackout period and avoid using mobile phones or flashlights near windows. The government has urged the public to cooperate fully, stressing that the drill is for preparedness and there is no cause for panic. DeshGujarat
