Botad: Botad Police has arrested a Class-III government employee for allegedly sharing objectionable content on social media related to ‘Operation Sindoor’. The Botad Cybercrime Police stated that the post, made via X handle @KRUPALPATEL963, was deemed harmful to national unity.
According to police, during routine monitoring of social media platforms, they came across a post by Krupal Patel (27), posted as a talati-cum-mantri (a Class-III post) in Dhrufaniya village of Gadhada taluka, which could incite fear and contained statements that threatened the country’s unity. Hence, he was booked under Sections 353(2) and 197(1)(d) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for publishing false and misleading content that could jeopardize national security. Cybercrime PI J. G. Chaudhary confirmed his arrest.
The action comes as part of a broader crackdown on objectionable social media content during Operation Sindoor. Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, had earlier said that 14 such FIRs had been filed across Gujarat, including in Kheda, Kutch, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Valsad, Banaskantha, Anand, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Patan, and Panchmahal districts.
Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor in retaliation to the April 22 terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. DeshGujarat
