Palsana Gram Panchayat gets National e-Gov Award

Surat: Palsana Gram Panchayat of Gujarat has been selected for the National e-Governance Award out of 1.44 lakh gram panchayats in the country for its excellent performance in the field of e-governance, an official statement said today.

Palsana Gram Panchayat will be given this award in the special category “Grassroot Level Initiatives for Deepening/Widening of Service Delivery.” The award will be presented during the 28th National e-Governance Conference’ to be held in Visakhapatnam, the release said.

This Gram Panchayat, located in Surat district, performs 100% tax collection online. In addition, at the Gram Panchayat level, V.C.E. and Talati provided an estimated 17,484 online services to the villagers during the year 2024–25.

As per the official statement, under “Secure Palsana,” Palsana Gram Panchayat has installed about 75 CCTV cameras at various places in the village. The door-to-door waste collection work by the Gram Panchayat is also commendable. An e-library is currently being built for the villagers.

For this award, Palsana Gram Panchayat represented Gujarat state at the national level after passing the verification process of the Taluka-District-State level verification committee. The national-level committee visited Palsana and evaluated it. Following that, the performance of Palsana Gram Panchayat was reviewed before a national-level jury panel formed by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, New Delhi, in which Palsana Gram Panchayat of Gujarat excelled out of 1.44 lakh Gram Panchayats in the country.

On this occasion, Surat District Panchayat President Bhaviniben Patel said that it is a matter of great pride for the Surat district and the state government that Palsana Gram Panchayat has received an award at the national level. It will inspire other Gram Panchayats of the state.

District Development Officer Shivani Goyal said, “We will try to implement the Palsana methodology in other Gram Panchayats as well, so that more and more people can benefit from e-governance.
