Gujarat may see scattered rainfall till June 3; heavy rain likely in some parts

Gandhinagar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a seven-day weather forecast for Gujarat, Diu, Daman, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, indicating light to moderate rainfall in several parts of the state, especially in the southern and Saurashtra regions. The forecast is valid until 8:30 AM on June 4, 2025.

However, during the next 24 hours, heavy rain may lash some districts, namely Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, and Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli; and in the Saurashtra districts of Amreli and Bhavnagar.

According to the IMD, maximum temperatures are expected to remain steady across the region over the next week, with no significant fluctuations.

As per the bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely at a few places across all districts of the state till May 29.

On May 30, districts including Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, and Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu are likely to receive light rain.

On May 31, light rain is predicted at isolated places in Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu.

On June 1, districts including Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, and Diu are expected to receive light rain.

On June 2, light to moderate rain is forecast at isolated places in Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Junagadh.

On June 3, isolated rainfall is expected in Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Junagadh, while the rest of the region is likely to remain dry.

Monsoon Progress:

  • • The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into more parts of Maharashtra, remaining parts of Karnataka, most parts of Telangana, the rest of Andhra Pradesh, some parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha, and the remaining parts of the west-central Bay of Bengal as of May 28, 2025.

  • • The Northern Limit of the Monsoon now passes through:
    17.0°N/55°E, 17.5°N/60°E, 18°N/65°E, 18.5°N/70°E, Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Dantewada, Rayagada, 19°N/86°E, 21°N/89°E, Agartala, Goalpara, and 28.5°N/89°E.

  • • Conditions are favorable for further advancement of the monsoon over the remaining parts of the northeastern states, and some parts of West Bengal and Sikkim in the next two days.

  • • A shear zone persists roughly along latitude 17°N over the Indian region and is now seen between 3.1 and 4.5 km above mean sea level, tilting southwards with height.

  • • An upper air cyclonic circulation over central parts of west Madhya Pradesh now lies over northeast Madhya Pradesh at 1.5 km above mean sea level. It is now considered insignificant for Gujarat.

  • • Another upper air cyclonic circulation over central parts of Rajasthan now lies over west Rajasthan at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

  • • A trough from southeast Rajasthan to north Chhattisgarh now extends from the cyclonic circulation over west Rajasthan to north Chhattisgarh, across east Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, at 0.9 km above mean sea level. DeshGujarat
