Gujarat to See Light to Moderate Showers; No Heavy Rain Expected: IMD Forecast

Gandhinagar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall across various parts of Gujarat, Daman, Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli over the next seven days. No major change in maximum temperatures is expected during this period.

According to the IMD bulletin, widespread light to moderate showers are likely in all districts of Gujarat over the next 24 hours. After that, rainfall is expected to decrease in North Gujarat, Kutch, and most parts of Saurashtra.

Between May 30 and June 5, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in the districts of Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and in Diu.

Monsoon Update:

  • The Southwest Monsoon has advanced further into parts of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, the North Bay of Bengal, the remaining Northeastern states, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim as of May 29, 2025.

  • The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) now passes through Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, Puri, Sandwip Island, Balurghat, and up to 30°N/85°E.

  • Conditions are favourable for further monsoon advance into parts of West Bengal and Bihar over the next 1–2 days.

Weather Systems:

  • A cyclonic circulation persists over west Rajasthan at 1.5 km above mean sea level.

  • A trough extends from southeast Rajasthan to a depression over the Northwest Bay of Bengal via north Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal.

  • Another trough from west Rajasthan to north Chhattisgarh across east Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh has weakened.

  • A shear zone near latitude 17°N at 3.1–4.5 km altitude has also become less marked. DeshGujarat
