Rangsetu bridge near Shinor closed for heavy vehicles after Gambhira tragedy
July 11, 2025
Vadodara: Shinor-based Rangsetu bridge has been declared shut for heavy vehicles. The bridge is on the Segva–Rajpipla route. The decision has been taken following the recent tragedy of the Gambhira bridge collapse on the Anand–Vadodara highway.
The bridge near Shinor connects Shinor in Vadodara district and Nandod in Narmada district. It was built in 2005. It is heavily used by goods vehicles to and from Maharashtra. The bridge was shut in 2015–16 for repairs, which went on for over six years. The repair was done at a cost of ₹10 crore. Later, it was shut in 2021 and ₹1.25 crore worth of repair work went on for around two months. The government has planned a new bridge to replace this old one at a cost of over ₹250 crore.
