ACB Gujarat nabs Gram Sevak in ₹10,000 bribe case
July 12, 2025
Mahisagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed a Gram Sevak in a bribe case involving ₹10,000. The accused, Maheshbhai Paragbhai Vankar (age 42), serving at Thana Savli Gram Panchayat in Lunawada taluka, was caught red-handed accepting the bribe in a trap set up by the ACB.
According to the ACB, the complainant had been sanctioned a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The first installment of ₹30,000 was deposited in their Baroda Bank account on April 10, 2024, followed by a second installment of ₹80,000 on June 21, 2025. For facilitating the release of these funds, the accused allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹10,000.
Despite the complainant’s request to reduce the amount, the Gram Sevak insisted that the third installment would be delayed if the bribe was not paid. The complainant recorded the conversation on their mobile phone and alerted the ACB. Based on this evidence, a trap was arranged, and the accused was caught accepting ₹10,000 in the presence of independent witnesses.
The entire bribe amount was recovered on the spot. A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further legal proceedings are underway. DeshGujarat
