Patna: The Patna Metro Rail project has marked a major milestone as the first metro rake arrived in the city on Friday. Manufactured by Alstom at its state-of-the-art facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, the rake was transported by road and unloaded at the metro depot near Pier No. 133 on the city bypass. This development sets the stage for technical inspections and a subsequent trial run — a significant step toward introducing modern urban transport in Bihar’s capital.

Alstom, one of India’s leading metro coach manufacturers, was awarded the contract to supply rakes for the Patna Metro. The newly arrived rake will serve the project’s first corridor and is expected to play a key role in enhancing Patna’s traffic system, making it smoother and more environment-friendly.

The Patna Metro project includes two major corridors: Patna Junction to Pataliputra Bus Terminal and Danapur to Mithapur. With a total cost of ₹13,365 crore, the project aims to begin operations on its first corridor by 2027. Following the rake’s arrival, teams of technical experts will conduct thorough inspections covering safety, electrical systems, and other key components, ahead of the official trial run. DeshGujarat
