Surat: The District Development Officer has given the green signal for installing solar rooftop systems on 182 more Gram Panchayat offices in Surat district. So far, rooftop solar systems with a capacity of 2 to 5 kilowatts have already been installed on 140 Gram Panchayat offices. The installation work for the remaining 182 offices will commence shortly.

The state government is actively promoting green and renewable energy. Under this initiative, subsidies are being provided to electricity connection holders who install solar systems to generate solar power through rooftop setups. Responding to this drive, the Surat District Panchayat has approved the installation of solar rooftop systems on 182 additional Gram Panchayat offices.

Previously, solar rooftops were installed on 140 Gram Panchayat offices through the Panchayat Incentive Grant and State Government Grant schemes. With the addition of these new systems, a total of 322 Gram Panchayat offices in Surat district will benefit from reduced electricity bills and lower energy consumption. DeshGujarat
