Petition Seeks Action Against Foreign Students at Marwari University in Rajkot

Rajkot: Residents of Ratanpar village have submitted a petition to the Police Commissioner seeking action against foreign students studying at Marwari University — particularly those from African countries — alleging that they are involved in immoral and criminal activities both on campus and in nearby villages.

In their written complaint, the villagers claim that these students are running prostitution operations from private flats, hotels, and houses, supported by their own network of hotels, taxis, and agents. They demand that this network be dismantled. The complaint also mentions that clashes have occurred between villagers and these students over these activities, leading to frequent law and order problems in the area.

According to the petition, these students share photos of call girls on social media. While the responsibility to curb such activities lies with the university, villagers allege that the authorities turn a blind eye to protect the institution’s ranking and international reputation. They suggest that foreign students should instead be required to stay in on-campus hostels.

Despite a resolution passed by the local village panchayat, some landlords continue to rent out houses to these students for profit. The problem, villagers say, affects areas including Gauridal, Ratanpar, Bedi, Madhapar Chowkdi, and Atal Sarovar. The petition urges the police to conduct checks on such suspicious houses and hotels.
